72nd Democracy Day is being celebrated across the country today

Today is the 72nd Democracy Day. Various organizations across the country have been celebrating this day with different programs today.

After the 2007 revolution, the 104-year-old autocratic Rana rule came to an end. Thereafter, Democracy Day is celebrated on the 7th of Falgun every year. This day is remembered as a glorious history as the country got democratic governance through the sacrifices of the Nepalese people.

On the occasion of Democracy Day, President Bidya Devi Bhandari today expressed her best wishes and paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives in the various struggles for the establishment of democracy. She also said that the people are the entire source of state power in a democracy.

Likewise, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also expressed his best wishes on the occasion of Democracy Day and said that today is a day of success in making the people citizens from slaves, establishing their fundamental rights and ensuring their representation in the system of governance.
