Kathmandu – There are 97 Nepalese wanted by the International Police Organization (Interpol), of whom 72 have been issued red corner notices and 25 have been issued diffusion notice. Nepal Police has stated that 5 foreigners have been issued red corner notice and 11 have been issued diffusion notice in Nepal.
According to the police, 66 people have been brought to Nepal through Interpol in the past 10 years. The largest number of people, 25, have been brought to Nepal with the help of Interpol. Similarly, 10 have been brought to Nepal from Qatar, 5 from Kuwait, 3 each from Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, and 2 each from India, Macau, China and Cambodia. One person each was brought from the US, Portugal, Bahrain, Romania and the UK.
Out of the 66 people brought to Nepal since 2015, 53 have been issued red notice. 13 have been issued diffusion notice. Among them, 15 were arrested for murder, 9 for rape, 8 for gold smuggling, 7 for fraud, 6 for human trafficking, 5 each for kidnapping, cybercrime and foreign employment fraud, and 2 each for wildlife crime, corporate and banking fraud.
According to the police, 7 foreigners have been arrested during this period and sent to their respective countries. 4 from China, 1 each from Sweden, Korea and India, who were issued red notice, have been searched in Nepal and sent back. In cases pending in the court, a diffusion notice is issued to find out the hiding place of the accused, and if the place is found, a red notice is issued for arrest. And, searches are conducted in member countries through Interpol.
