Demand of Congress MP to dismiss the post of Deputy Speaker

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives, ruling Nepali Congress MP Amaresh Kumar Singh has demanded the removal of the post of Deputy Speaker.

Even when the post of Deputy Speaker has been vacant for a long time, the political parties have remained silent on the issue of selection of Deputy Speaker. He said that it is better to dismiss the post which has been vacant since 2076 BS.

Pursuant to Article 91 (2) 1 of the Constitution, there is a constitutional provision that the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker should be of different parties and of different genders.
