Kathmandu – Former Women, Children and Senior Citizens Minister Uma Regmi’s daughter-in-law and Social Welfare Council Vice President Monica Bhattarai Adhikari has resigned from her post after the American PR controversy escalated.

It has been revealed that daughter-in-law Monica Bhattarai Adhikari, who was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Social Welfare Council by misusing the power and authority when her mother-in-law Uma Regmi was a minister, holds an American Permanent Residence Permit (PR) .

According to the existing constitution, laws, norms and practices of Nepal, people who have foreign PR cannot be appointed to public positions in Nepal, but her mother-in-law former minister Uma Regmi, illegally appointed her as the vice president of the Social Welfare Council.

It is understood that Vice President Monica Bhattarai has resigned after complaints have been filed against her in CIAA. Although it is said that she has resigned, her name and position details have not been removed from the website of the council.
