Agreement to hold local level elections in Baisakh

A meeting of the high-level political coordination committee formed by the ruling coalition held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar today has agreed to hold local elections in Baisakh.

Although the Election Commission has already submitted its report to the government with election dates on Baisakh 14 and 22, the meeting of the High-Level Political Coordinating Committee said that no decision has been taken on whether to hold the election on the same date or at a later date. However, today’s meeting of the high-level political coordination committee has ended with an agreement to hold local elections in Baisakh.

Government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has informed that the date of the election will be fixed after further discussion in the regular cabinet meeting to be held on Thursday.
