Bagmati Chief Minister Lama gets vote of confidence

KAthmandu: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province and leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party for the province, Bahadur Singh Lama has received the vote of confidence.

With the support of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, the votes favored Lama. Including 37 votes from Congress and 27 from UML lama got a total of 64 votes while 35 votes were against.

CPN-Maoist Center, CPN United Socialists, and RAPRAPA, the main opposition parties, voted against the vote of confidence, while Nemkipa remained silent.

Lama, who was appointed as the Chief Minister last Tuesday, took the vote of confidence as per the constitutional provision to take the vote of confidence from the House within 30 days.

In the 110-member Bagmati state assembly, the government needs the support of 56 MPs to get a majority.
