Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on an official visit to Nepal, will begin formal talks this afternoon.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang and Foreign Minister Dr. Khadka will have a one-on-one meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office at Singha Durbar from 3:30 pm to 3:45 pm on Saturday. After this, at least 10 MoUs will be signed between Nepal and China from 5:15 to 5:30.

Agreements will be signed on Kerung-Kathmandu railway, financial and technical assistance, feasibility study and modification of Ratamate-Kerung power transmission line, further cooperation in energy sector, export of developed grass to China and Chinese assistance to Bharatpur Hospital.

Secretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Home, Tourism, Energy, Physical Planning, Agriculture, Industry, Land Reforms and Health will participate in the delegation level talks. Similarly, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also join the meeting.

Meet the Prime Minister in Baluwatar
After holding delegation-level talks and signing a memorandum of understanding with Foreign Minister Khadka, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang will arrive at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

He will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Deuba from 5:45 pm to 6:15 pm.

Immediately, the completion of construction of Pokhara International Airport will be announced in the presence of Prime Minister Deuba. Pokhara Airport has been built with Chinese assistance.

Foreign Minister Khadka will host a dinner at Hotel Dwarikaj at 7.30 pm on Saturday.

Sunday
The Chinese Foreign Minister will pay a courtesy call on President Bidhyadevi Bhandari at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

According to sources, the Chinese Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet former Prime Minister and Chairman of the main opposition party CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli and former Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at Hotel Hyatt on Sunday.

From 11:10 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., former Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to have a courtesy meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister at the Hyatt Hotel.He will also meet Prachanda at Hotel Hyatt from 11:45 to 12:15.

After a three-day stay in Nepal, the Chinese Foreign Minister is scheduled to fly to Beijing on Sunday at 3 p.m.

According to foreign sources, the 25-member delegation, led by Foreign Minister Wang, includes two Chinese assistant ministers and senior government officials. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi will also attend all the high level meetings.
