Clashes broke out at various places across the country during the polls

The voting process for the local elections, which started this morning, will continue till evening. While the voting process is proceeding peacefully across the country, clashes have erupted in some places.

According to the latest information, clashes have erupted in more than 16 polling stations across the country. Police have fired eight rounds in the air during a clash at Mahadev polling station in Chankheli village of Humla district. Polling has been postponed at the polling station of Vaiteshwor VDC 1 and 2 of Dolakha after clashes broke out at the polling station. Similarly, police fired in the air to control the clash in Khandadevi VDC 1 and Manthali Municipality 12 of Ramechhap. Meanwhile, ballot boxes were vandalized during the clash at Katike Deurali Ward No. 6 in Kavre. The voting process has been postponed after the clash.
Similarly, police opened fire in the air after a clash between Nepali Congress and Maoist cadres at Gyanmarg Higher Secondary School ‘B’ polling center in Gandaki Gaonpalika-7 Ghyalchowk of Gorkha district.
Police have fired six rounds in the air to control the clash that started at the Polling Station in Dhankaul Village Municipality of Sarlahi after the dispute between the parties escalated. Police have fired three rounds in the air to control the situation after ballot boxes were vandalized during a clash at Sunipipal Chaur MA VI polling station in Jaya Prithvi Municipality-7 of Bajhang district. Voting has now been postponed.

Similarly, clashes have also taken place at Champadevi VDC 9 of Okhaldhunga, Misrabhanjyang polling station and Doramba of Ramechhap, Shailung and Dhankaul polling stations of Sarlahi, Kaudanya, Budhananda municipality of Bajura, Thatikandh of Dailekh, Chauri Deurali 6 of Kavre and Kohalpur of Banke.
Police have fired shots in different places to control the situation. Polling officials, police and political activists of various parties were also injured in the clashes.
