Coalition candidate wins in Lumbini & Far western province

Ruling coalition candidates have won the National Assembly elections in Lumbini. On behalf of the alliance, Yuvaraj Sharma of the Nepali Congress, Laxmi Gaire of the CPN-Unified Socialist Party and Tul Prasad Bik (Rajesh) of the Rastriya Janamorcha emerged victorious.

UML candidates Ram Dayal Gupta, Bharti Khanal Upadhyay and Krishna Sunar were defeated by the ruling coalition.

Voting was held at the staff meeting centre at Ghorahi in Dang at 9 this morning. The state assembly members 81 and 107 local level chiefs and deputy chiefs had cast their votes in the election.

Similarly, Garima Kumari Shah of the Unified Socialists has also won the women’s seat in the Far Western Province. Shah was elected with 1,872 votes from the state assembly and 1,962 votes from the local level.Shah’s closest rival, CPN-UML candidate Santosh Kumari Thapa, polled 576 votes from the state and 1,152 votes from the local level.
