Constitutional session at the apex from today

The long-delayed constitutional session of the Supreme Court is starting today.

The Constitutional Court was repeatedly affected by the contraction of the service due to the risk of corona infection. The Constitutional Court has not been able to convene since last September after the controversy of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara.

The constitutional session has started after the voting process started in the Supreme Court. However, since the Constitution itself provides for the appointment of other judges by the Chief Justice on the recommendation of the Judicial Council, there is no need to go through a round of voting to decide the judges sitting in the Constitutional Court.

Earlier, Chief Justice Jabara, in his commitment to the Supreme Court Bar Association, had promised to form a constitutional bench according to seniority.
