Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has resigned from his post.

Finance Minister Sharma was sharply criticized for manipulating the tax rate in the interest of a limited number of individuals and organizations by taking unauthorized persons to the ministry during the preparation of the budget for the fiscal year 2079/80. Lawmakers from the main opposition and coalition parties have been demanding an investigation into the incident and the resignation of the finance minister. Sharma resigned as soon as the parliament formed a special parliamentary committee to investigate the incident.

An 11-member committee to investigate the incident
The federal parliament has decided to form an 11-member parliamentary committee to investigate the incident of tax manipulation.

It has been agreed to form the committee with 4 members from UML, 2/2 from Congress and UCPN (M), 1/1 from loktantrik samajwadi, Janata samajwadi and Ekikrit samajwadi and the coordinator will be selected from among the 11 members.
