The government has reached a four-point agreement with rights activists and Ruby Khan, who have been protesting for the disappearance and death of Nirmala Kurmi of Nepalgunj and Nankunni Dhobi of Banke.
The 41-day-long agitation at Maitighar Mandala demanding action against the perpetrators of the death of Nankunni Dhobi of Nepalgunj and the disappearance of Nirmala Kurmi has come to an end.Earlier, Ruby Khan came to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj, walking for 20 days . She also went on a 12-day fast to press for justice.
Four points agreement were:
1.It was agreed to send a letter to the Naxal Police Headquarters in Kathmandu to conduct an investigation through the Central Bureau of Investigation.
2.It was agreed that the Ministry of Home Affairs would instruct the security agencies to pay special attention to the safety of the agitating persons and witness as the issues of intimidation and temptation were raised by the accused.
3.In this regard, it was agreed to write to the concerned bodies to implement the issues pointed out in the investigation report, to get the details of the previous correspondence, progress on the action, and to ‘follow up’ for the implementation.
4.It was agreed that Ruby Khan, who was on a hunger strike on the issue, would break her fast from today.
