Kathmandu- A parliamentary committee has directed the government to expedite the Guthi Bill.

On Wednesday, the National Assembly’s Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee directed the Ministry of Land Management and Poverty Alleviation to submit the Guthi Bill as soon as possible, informed committee chairperson Sonam Geljen Sherpa. He said that since conflicts have started in some places after religious centers have become economically concentrated, an environment should be created for Guthi communities to resolve them, and since there are disputes related to Guthi in places where religious areas have property, a law should be made to resolve it in the long term.

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari said in the committee meeting that the government is searching for Guthi land across the country.
