Government will fix the date of local elections in consultation with the Election Commission

Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that the government will fix the date of local elections in consultation with the Election Commission.

After a meeting of the top leaders of the ruling coalition at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar this evening agreed on the decision to hold local elections in mid-June, the government has decided to fix the date of local elections in consultation with the Election Commission.

The ruling coalition has suggested the government to hold local elections in mid-june and if there are any legal hurdles, the government will carry forward the election by making necessary amendments in the law, said Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications.
