The hearing of the writ petition filed by the Election Commission seeking upholding the election code of conduct is scheduled to be held on April 17 .
The court had earlier issued an interim order not to immediately implement the provision of the commission’s code of conduct after a writ petition was filed against the election code of conduct. However, a joint bench of Justices Tej Bahadur KC and Kumar Regmi has ordered to hear the commission’s petition on April 17 after the commission filed a petition in the Supreme Court through the Attorney General’s Office seeking revocation of the interim order.
The commission had implemented the code of conduct saying that the people’s representative who is running for re-election in the local level election can become a candidate in the election only by resigning from his post.
