The government has formed new regulations for those who travel abroad on a visit visa. New minimum requirements for any individual to travel abroad on a visit visa is, the traveler needs to have an annual income of 1 million rupees and a bank balance of 500000.

The task force formed on Wednesday to submit its study report to Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand gave various suggestions regarding the problems created by the visit visa and the solution regarding the issues.

A committee was formed under the chairmanship of Home Secretary Phanindra Mani Pokhrel. Joint Secretary Pokharel said that the committee has recommended to prepare material basis for those going abroad on visit visa. “We have asked the Immigration Department and the Labor Department to come up with a new procedure to allow only those earning Rs 1 million a year and only those with a bank balance of Rs 500,000 to go on a visit visa,” said Joint Secretary Pokharel.

A new procedure is being formulated based on the study report. The report recommends that the complexities in the labor approval process be improved to make it as simple, transparent and expeditious as possible, and that individuals and organizations facilitating the sending of visit visas be made accountable. If it is found that the foreign employment entrepreneurs who have obtained permission for foreign employment have sent people abroad on visit visa or other means without obtaining labor permit, such organizations and operators have been asked to take action as per Section 44 of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064 BS.
