United Nepali Diaspora Organization: A parallel organization of Non-Resident Nepali Association registered

Kathmandu – United Nepali Diaspora Organization (UNDO) has been registered as a parallel organization of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).

According to the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 14th Jan 2024, UNDO has been registered and granted a certificate in accordance with the Non-Resident Nepalese Act 2064 and the Non-Resident Nepalese Regulations 2066.

Sonam Lama, who is also the former vice-president of NRNA, applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to register the United Nepali Diaspora organization after the dispute in the NRNA election of 2078 Chait. After Ministry of Foreign Affairs refused to register the organization, Lama filed a writ in the Supreme Court on 31 July 2023. Accordingly, the joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Teel Prasad Shrestha ordered the registration of UNDO.

58 non-resident Nepalese from 28 countries jointly applied to register the United Nepali Diaspora Organization in accordance with the provision of non-resident Nepali association 2066 where it has been mentioned that 50 non-resident Nepalese in 25 countries should jointly applied for the registration of new organization related to Non resident Nepalese.
