77 people died :88 injured due to disaster caused by continuous rain

Kathmandu, July 9: Since the onset of this year’s monsoon, 77 people have died and 88 people have been injured due to floods, landslides, and inundation in various parts of the country.

Police have informed that one person died in Kathmandu valley, 18 in Koshi province, three in Madhesh Province, four in Bagmati province, 22 in Gandaki Province, 18 in Lumbini province, and four each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The injured include three from Kathmandu Valley, 21 from Koshi Province, five from Madhesh Province, four from Bagmati Province, 26 from Gandaki Province, four from Lumbini Province, 15 from Karnali Province and 10 from Sudurpaschim Province.

A total of 53 people have been rescued, 41 in Koshi province and 12 in Gandaki province. Also, two people have gone missing in Koshi province, two in Bagmati province, and one in Sudurpaschim province. The police said that the search for the missing persons is continuing.

A total of 161 houses were inundated by the flood, while 94 houses, 53 huts, 41 bridges, two government offices and a school were damaged. Also, 335 cattle have died and 296 families have been displaced during this period.

Efforts are being made to move families from different districts who are at risk of floods and landslides to safe places. According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the police are also working to clear the landslide and restore the traffic.
