The Parliamentary Committee on International Relations has directed the government not to implement the decision to allow blue number plates and flags in the vehicles of unpaid consuls.

The government revoked the facility two years ago after it was found that Kyrgyzstan’s honorary ambassador to Nepal, Sulabh Agrawal, had used a vehicle used as a diplomatic privilege on illegal activities. However, Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka reversed the decision and allowed blue number plates and flags to be placed on the vehicles of unpaid consuls.

Stating that no consultation was held while reviving this facility, the committee meeting has asked not to allow blue number plate and flag to be placed in the vehicle of unpaid consul. The government has also asked to formulate criteria in this regard and send it to the committee soon.
