Non-MP personnel recommended to be the law minister

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has recommended a non-MP for the post of Law Minister.

Advocate Govinda Prasad Sharma (Koirala) will be sworn in as the Law Minister at 2 pm today, said Bhesharaj Adhikari, Personal Secretary to the President.

According to Article 78 of the Constitution, a non-MP can be appointed as a Minister by the President on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.However, there is a legal provision that such a minister must become a member of the federal parliament within six months of taking oath, otherwise the post of minister will be automatically revoked.

It is learned that the Prime Minister is preparing to give the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to the present Law Minister Dilendra Prasad Badu after making Sharma the Law Minister.
