Silence period to be imposed from today

A silence period will be imposed for the local level election after 12 midnight today. The silence period will continue until the voting is over.

A silent period has been fixed for holding the election in a fraud-free, clean, fair and fear-free environment. It is mentioned in the code of conduct of the commission that political parties, their fraternal organizations, candidates, union organizations and others will not be allowed to organize political campaigns, gatherings / seminars during the silence period.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya informed that the authority has been delegated to all the Chief District Officers through a special circular to monitor, regulate and monitor the compliance of the instructions issued for the silence period and to take action against the violators if necessary.

According to the commission, no discussion, interaction, meeting, conference or symposium can be held during the silence period including election campaign. Campaign materials of political parties and candidates will not be allowed within 300 meters of the polling station. The commission has directed to remove such material before the start of the silence period.

During the silence period, it is not allowed to post or share messages, information or propaganda material for or against the political party or candidate through social media, online, print or any other means.
