Srilankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has resigned amid growing protest in Sri Lanka over the economic crisis.
Earlier, Sunday President Gotabaya Rajapaksa called on the Prime Minister to resign to resolve the country’s political crisis.
At the same time, President Rajapaksa is expected to convene an all-party meeting to form a joint cabinet.
Earlier today, supporters of the prime minister staged a protest in front of the Temple Tree near the prime minister’s residence, urging him not to resign. Police had also announced curfew to reduce stress in the clash of opposers in the opposition.
