legal experts suggested amending the law which is in conflict with the constitution, during a discussion held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today.

After the discussion, government spokesperson and Minister for Communications Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that the legal experts had suggested to amend the law which is in conflict with the constitution. It is seen that the provisions related to the local level mentioned in an Article 225 of the Constitution and Article 3 of the Local Level Election Act, 073 are in conflict. And, according to Article 1 of the constitution, the provision of the law to the extent that the law is in conflict with the constitution is invalid. It has been suggested to amend the law accordingly, ‘said Minister Karki.

The legal experts were accompanied by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of the CPN-Unified Socialists Madhav Kumar Nepal and Chairman of the Federal Council of the Janata Samajwadi Party Baburam Bhattarai.
Minister Karki claimed that the coalition government would move ahead with the election in accordance with the spirit and letter of the constitution. “We are following the spirit of the constitution. We are working according to the spirit of the constitution. You can be sure of that,” he said.
