Two foreign nationals arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport for gold smuggling

Two foreign nationals have been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport for trying to smuggle gold through Nepal. Chief of the Airport Security Office, Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal said that Indian national Parasnath Sah and Bangladeshi national Mohammad Ullah were arrested while trying to smuggle about one kg of gold from Dubai via Nepal.

A Bangladeshi national Mohammad Ullah, who came to Kathmandu from Dubai via Himalayan Airlines flight number H9566, was arrested along with gold while investigating.

According to police, the gold is about one kilogram (936 grams). The current market value of the gold is around Rs 7.7 million.

According to him, Parasnath Sah, an Indian national, has also been arrested after it was revealed in his statement with Ullah that he was involved in customs fraud. Both of them have been handed over to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office for necessary investigation and action .
