USAID Grants Suspended for Nepal

Kathmandu- The Ministry of Finance has informed that grants for four projects run by the US aid agency USAID have been suspended for 90 days.

Spokesperson Mahesh Bhattarai informed that the grants received under the USAID Health Direct Financing Project, USAID Agricultural Direct Finance Project, USAID Education Direct Financing Project, and USAID Inclusive Policy Direct Financing Project have been suspended for the said period.

He also said that these projects are of the nature of being paid from the Consolidated Fund through the budget system out of the grant assistance received by Nepal through the Development Objective Advance (DOAG) between USAID and the Government of Nepal on 05 May 2022.

“USAID Nepal has informed through a letter that grant support for these projects has been suspended for an immediate period of 90 days,” he said. “All relevant agencies have been informed not to create any liability towards USAID resources under the suspended projects during this 90-day period.”

After Trumps’ sworn in as a president of th united states he has declared to stop the funding to various countries and projects that has only been burden to the US financial system and the economy of the country.
