China has said it opposes any attempt to involve Nepal in the geopolitical game.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on a visit to Nepal, said in a meeting with his Nepali counterpart Narayan Khadka that Nepal’s affairs should be decided by Nepalese.

“We oppose any attempt to undermine Nepal’s sovereignty and independence, interfere in interim affairs, and involve the country in the geopolitical game,” he said.

Stating that China’s internal situation in Nepal and the international situation would not affect the relations between the two countries, Yi said, “Relations between the two countries will move in the direction decided by the leaders of the two countries.”

Expressing his commitment to help develop Nepal in line with the national situation, he said that he would inspire all political parties in Nepal to engage in collective discussion and consultation for the basic and long-term interests of the people.
