Satya Mohan Joshi, a cultural scholar and historian who was being treated in the hospital, passed away at the age of 103 at 7:09 this morning.

103-year-old Joshi, who has been suffering from various health problems including heart for a long time was being treated in ICU after contracting a dengue infection.

During his life, he worked in various fields including the Department of Archaeology, Pragya Pratishthan and Rastriya Samachar Samiti. Joshi was awarded the “Madan Purashkar” three times. His contribution to awakening and upliftment of Nepali tradition and culture will remain with us forever.

In his honour, the government even published a postage stamp with his portrait.
