With a grand opening ceremony, the Beijing Olympics started on Friday evening according to Nepali time.

Chinese President Xi Jinping formally inaugurate the 24th Winter Olympics on Friday at 8 pm local time. China has also used the Winter Olympics, which began on Friday evening, as a means of showcasing its splendour.The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games is currently taking place at the world famous stadium Bird’s Nest.The opening ceremony of the Olympics has the direct presence of 97 countries around the world. Russian President Vladimir Putin also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Amid political tensions with the United States and India, China has made every effort to make the Winter Olympics grand.India and the United States have accused China of politicizing the Winter Olympics. That is why the Indian delegation will not participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

No athlete from Nepal has participated in the Winter Olympics this time.
