British Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned

British Prime Minister Liz Truss issued a statement today and resigned as the leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister.

She resigned saying she could not deliver the mandate she was elected as Tory leader. She also said that the election of the Conservative leadership for the future Prime Minister will be held next week and she will remain in the executive role until the next Prime Minister is elected.

Truss is the shortest-serving prime minister in British history, having completed just 45 days in office.

Meanwhile, After the resignation of two Prime Ministers in four months, the leaders of the British opposition parties have demanded an immediate general election.

She was the last prime minister appointed by the late Queen Elizabeth II and her tenure began with a 10-day mourning period.
