Gagan Kumar Thapa & Bishwa Prakash Sharma won the election

Nepali Congress leaders Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have been elected as a general-secretaries from the 14th general convention of the party.

Thapa received 3023 votes which was the highest number among all the candidates vying for the post. Thapa was elected from Shekhar Koiral’s Panel, where Sharma was elected as an independent candidate with 1984 votes. Other candidates vying for the same post were Prakash Sharan Mahat,Pradip Poudel,Rajaram Karki and the defense minister Dr.Minendra Rijal. Rijal announced his resignation from the ministry after he lost the battle on the election ground.
