Government cutting unnecessary spending: No meeting allowances

Kathmandu- The government has decided not to pay meeting allowances from now on. The criteria for public expenditure austerity have decided not to pay meeting allowances for regular work. The Council of Ministers meeting has passed the ‘Criteria for Making Public Expenditure Economical and Effective’ and has made arrangements for cutting such facilities.

It is mentioned that no incentive allowance, overtime allowance, risk allowance, special allowance, etc. will be provided except as per the law. However, the Ministry of Finance will be allowed to distribute risk allowances based on resource availability. There is a provision that meeting allowances cannot be paid for committees or task forces formed under the law if they work before or after office hours. The officials of an investigation or investigation committee, task force or commission formed for a specific work will not receive meeting allowances for predetermined work. Regular work cannot be carried out under program expenses. Expenses such as maintenance, fuel, meeting allowances cannot be written off from program expenses.

There is a provision that government expenditure cannot be spent on banquets except for hospitality for foreign guests.

Similarly, provisions have been made to reduce government expenditure by including provisions such as those using government housing will not receive housing allowance, financial assistance and grants will be given only with the consent of the government, electrical equipment must be used for at least 5 years, external consulting services cannot be used for government work, additional fuel will not be given to employees who use transportation facilities, residential seminars cannot be held from government sources and foreign loans, domestic goods must be used in government works and offices, and the purchase of medicines must be placed on the website.
