The Ministry of Forest and Environment has formed a task force to investigate the death of a rhinoceros in a pit in the Varandabhar forest section of the East-West Highway in the intermediate zone of Chitwan National Park.
The task force has been formed by the decision of the ministerial level on Tuesday. A five-member task force has been formed under the coordination of Rajendra KC, the ministry said.
The task force has been given a period of 10 days to investigate the incident and submit a report with factual details.
The members of the task force are Ramji Danai, Deputy Secretary (Law), Ministry of Forest and Environment, Dil Bahadur Purja Pun, Planning Officer, Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, Haribhadra Sharma, Chief Conservation Officer, Chitwan National Parks and Padma Raj Nepal, Divisional Forest Officer, Division Forest Office, Chitwan.
The rhinoceros had died after falling into a pit dug during road widening in Varandabhar forest section on January 25.
