Import ban on restricted goods lifted

The government has opened the import of goods such as vehicles, mobile phones, alcohol and motorcycles, which were previously banned by classifying them under luxury goods.

Due to the negative impact on revenue collection due to the ban imposed on foreign exchange reserves, the government has decided to open the import of those items from January.

Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister Dilendra Prasad Badu has informed that the Council of Ministers has decided to lift the import ban in accordance with the proposal to open the ban in a meeting with the representatives of the National Bank, the Finance Secretary and the Commerce Secretary under the coordination of the Chief Secretary. The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply has said that the decision to lift the ban was made because the economy will be affected if the import is banned for a long time.

Industrialists and businessmen have been protesting since the government continued the ban on imports,Saying that they have suffered huge losses due to the government policy.
