Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the United States to help save Afghanistan’s economy. He says the United States has been involved in Afghanistan for two decades and should provide assistance.

“Those who have been there for 20 years and have destroyed the economy must first provide assistance,” Putin said in response to a question from reporters at the annual press conference.

He also said that the assets of Afghanistan, which have been blocked by the United States and other countries, should be released. Putin also called on the Taliban to form an inclusive government representing all ethnic groups.
