Prime Minister Deuba proposed to hold elections without amending the Local Level Election Act 2073

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has proposed to hold local elections soon.

It is said that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba may have proposed not to amend the Local Level Election Act 2073 and to hold the elections soon, after the Pressure of the Election Commission and wide criticism for trying to push back the election.

Today’s meeting of the coalition ended without any conclusion even though the ruling party had agreed to amend the local level election act saying that it was inconsistent with the constitution and to hold the election within six months of the end of the term of the local people’s representative. Prime Minister Deuba’s proposal will be discussed at a meeting of the coalition to be held at 4 pm in consultation with legal practitioners today.
