Russia has announced military action against Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced military action as the crisis in Ukraine was being discussed in UN Security Council. Putin announced in a televised address that a special military operation had been launched in the Donbas area.
Meanwhile, large explosions were heard in the capital Kyiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk, the BBC reported. Russia has recognized Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states.
