The government had decided to grant six days leave for all the schools as polling stations have been set up in most of the community schools and some teachers have been deployed in the election and some have to go to the district to cast their votes.
Earlier, the Education and Human Resource Development Center had directed all 77 education development and coordination units to give three days leave to the schools where polling stations have been set up. But as 14 fell on saturday and the government has decided to give public leave on sunday from 15th of may ,leave will als be given on Sunday. As Buddha Jayanti falls on May 16th, there will be a public holiday on that day as well. Therefore, schools will be closed for 6 days from today. With the closure of schools, the number of people returning to the village from Kathmandu Valley to cast their votes has increased from today.
President of the Federation of Teachers Kamala Tuladhar said that there will be no schooling for six days from today. At present, there are about 27,000 community and about 8,000 private schools in the country.
In government offices, leave is given only on election day. Government employees are running on a limited staff as employees are deployed in the election.
