Speaker Sapkota request to manage Tatopani checkpoint

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has urged China to systematically expand the Tatopani checkpoint.

In a meeting with Li Changsu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of the People’s Republic of China, on Friday, he requested on the need to operate the Tatopani and Kerung ports in a more systematic manner.

Stating that the Miteri Bridge in Liping of Tatopani is a symbol of friendship between Nepal and China, Speaker Sapkota spoke on the need to take the relations between the two countries to the people level.

Although it has been shut down after the epidemic of Covid-19 and is currently in operation, the circulation from Tatopani and other checkpoints has not become normal.

Speaker Sapkota highly praised the progress made in building the overall national power in China through economic development, cultural awakening and development of technology and hoped that it would be a guide for development and prosperity for Nepal as well.

He said China’s success in effectively controlling, preventing and responding to the Corona epidemic was exemplary for the world community. Speaker Sapkota thanked the Chinese government for its support from the very beginning for the effective prevention and control of the corona epidemic in Nepal and for the assistance provided by the Chinese government in the provision of vaccines and other health items.
