Sri Lankan ministers have resigned en masse amid an economic crisis. With the exception of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, all 26 Sri Lankan ministers have resigned en masse. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa are brothers.
Due to the extreme economic crisis, the anger of Sri Lankan citizens is growing. A nationwide curfew has been imposed after anti-government demonstrations and looting increased. Citizens of Sri Lanka have protested against the curfew. Troops have been mobilized on the streets in an attempt to quell the protests.
Sri Lanka is going through the worst economic situation since independence from Britain in 1948. Due to the shortage of dollars, Sri Lanka has not been able to import essential food items, medicines, fuel and other items. Earlier, the school examination was postponed due to lack of money to buy copy and ink. Long lines of people can be seen at petrol pumps and food shops.
