SriLankan PM Wickremesinghe sworn in as acting President

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has been sworn in as the Interim President of Sri Lanka. Wickramasinghe has said that he will maintain peace and security in the crisis-stricken country by following the constitutional process.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as Acting President after the Speaker of Parliament accepted President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s resignation.

Wickramasinghe on Friday urged lawmakers to work towards a consensus to form an all-party government, saying he would follow the constitutional process and restore peace in a country that has been reeling from months of fuel shortages and price hikes.
