Finance Minister Janardan Sharma told a press conference at the ministry today that there is no major crisis in the economy.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Finance today, Minister Sharma said that action taken against the governor was legal.Many things would become clear after the report of the investigation committee comes out. “We have formed a committee to investigate,” he said.

He said that the current situation is being closely monitored by the concerned bodies including the Ministry of Finance. Finance Minister Sharma also informed that work is being done on the proposal submitted to the Council of Ministers by the Ministry of Finance under the leadership of the Chief Secretary to address the problems seen in the economy over the last seven months.

He also said that preparations are being made to regulate the import of petroleum products to control the trade deficit. Minister Sharma has said that the proposal to reduce the cost of petroleum fuel for government purposes has reached the Council of Ministers. He also informed that preparations are being made to increase the customs duty on some luxury items too.
