Vaccination campaign against typhoid in Madhes

A vaccination campaign against typhoid will be launched in Madhes from April 8.

According to the state health directorate, the vaccination campaign against typhoid, which is being launched by the government of Nepal to reduce the human losses caused by typhoid, will be conducted in Madhes from April 8 to May 1.

Under the vaccination campaign, children between the ages of 15 months and 15 years will be vaccinated. Director of the Health Directorate, Vijay Kumar Jha, informed that the vaccination program against typhoid, which is being conducted under a special campaign, is being prepared along with regular vaccination.

Stating that there are 1,787,710 people of vaccinating age in eight districts of Madhes state, the health directorate has said that it is preparing to vaccinate at least 95 percent of the target group. Nepal will become the first country in East Asia to be vaccinated against typhoid, said Suresh Shukla, a representative of Madhes in the World Health Organization.

Director Jha urged everyone to take the vaccine with confidence as the research has confirmed that the vaccine is completely safe and fully capable of preventing typhoid. Senior Health Administrator Shravan Nayak urged the people to continue washing their hands regularly, paying special attention to hygiene and wearing masks to prevent typhoid in case of diarrhea.

According to the directorate, five people can be vaccinated with one vial of 2.5 ml and health workers have been trained on vaccination.
