Voter list collection work stopped from today

The Election Commission has stopped the voter list compilation. The commission has stated that the collection of names has been stopped from today as soon as the date of the local level election has been fixed.

As per sub-section 2 of section 4 of the Election Act, after the date of the election has been announced, names cannot be registered in the voters’ roll for the purpose of election.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that all 77 District Election Offices have been instructed to send the collected voter details to the Center within three days.

Yesterday’s meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to hold the local level election on May 13.
