Anjala Koirala ordered to be released on bail of Rs 1 million

Biratnagar – The District Court, Morang, has ordered the release of Anjala Koirala, accused of cooperative fraud, on a bail of Rs 1 million. After a closed hearing , a bench of Justice Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai ordered her release on a bail of Rs 1 million.

Koirala is the wife of Rishikesh Pokharel, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives. Koirala, who is absconding in the cooperative fraud case, appeared at the Morang District Court on wednesday morning.

Koirala, who was involved in the embezzlement of funds from the Umagauri Agricultural Cooperative in Dhanpalthan-4, Morang, was absconding after the court issued an arrest warrant. The court had issued arrest warrants against 26 people, including Koirala, the chairman of the cooperative, Shambhu Rauniyar, and Rangali 2 ward chairman Santalal Khawas.

Based on the report submitted by the Area Police Office, Rangeli, the Government Attorney’s Office, Morang, had registered a case against 26 people, including Anjala and the cooperative’s chairman, Rauniyar, demanding a compensation of Rs 26 crore 48 lakh 27 thousand.
