Kathmandu – The government has appointed Rameshwar Dangal as the new Home Secretary, removing Gokarnamani Duwadi from the post. Duwadi had been accused of playing a role in the suppression of the Gen-Z movement.
Dangal, who previously served as a defense secretary and is a career officer from the home administration cadre, will take charge once the decision is implemented, expected by Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Duwadi, whose name had earlier been linked to the visit-visa controversy but who had avoided consequences, continued to lead the Home Ministry for about one and a half weeks after the change in government. Amid calls for an investigation into his role during the crackdown on the Gen-Z protests, he has now been reassigned to the National Planning Commission Secretariat.
