Kathmandu: CPN-Ekikrit Samajwadi chairman Madhav Nepal has said that there is no possibility of party unity with CPN-UML. Speaking at a unity program with Bamdev Gautam, he made it clear that there is no possibility of unity with UML.
Chairman Nepal said, “We have seen the situation there. If someone has any hopes or expectations, I have nothing to say.
Chairman Nepal has urged not to be under the illusion of party unity with UML in any way. He said that no one can stop the party from strengthening through unity with Bamdev Gautam.
Kathmandu — The CPN (Unified Socialists) has submitted a report with the opinion that it is not necessary to unite with the Maoist Center.
Although Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal said that they will discuss with their respective teams for party unity and form a unity coordination committee, General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal has stated in the standing committee meeting that such unity is not practically possible.
Giving an example of UML-Maoist unity, Bhusal has said that “unity will fail if it is only at the top level.”
‘The unity and division between the UML and the Maoists in 2075 BS has shown that unity is not reliable within top leaders,’ and ‘we have to learn a lot from that incident,’ he said.
Speaking at the meeting, socialist leaders have said that uniting with the Maoists will lead to party collapse. They have also said that the organization is weakening in the name of unity with the Maoists.
The ruling coalition has decided on the party’s candidate for the post of chief and deputy chief of the metropolis and sub-metropolis in the local level election. A meeting between the top leaders of the alliance chaired by the Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today has decided on the candidate by consensus.
As per the agreement, the Congress has agreed to field candidates for the post of chief of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Biratnagar Municipal Corporations and deputy chiefs of Birgunj, Bharatpur and Pokhara.
Similarly, it has been agreed to nominate the chiefs of Dharan, Itahari, Kalaiya, Butwal, Tulsipur, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan cities and the deputy chiefs of Jitpur-Simra, Ghorahi and Hetauda sub-metropolitan cities on behalf of the Nepali Congress.
The CPN (Maoist Center) will nominate for the post of Chief of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation and Deputy Chief of Lalitpur Municipal Corporation, Chief of Jitpur-Simra and Ghorahi Sub-metropolis and Deputy Chief of Dharan and Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis.
The CPN (Unified Socialist) has agreed to nominate for the post of Chief of Pokhara Metropolitan City and Deputy Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Chief of Hetauda Sub-metropolis and Deputy Chief of Itahari, Butwal and Tulsipur Sub-metropolis.
Similarly, the Janata Samajwadi Party has agreed to nominate for the Chief of Birgunj Metropolitan City and Deputy Chief of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Chief of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City and Deputy Chief of Kalaiya and Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City.
The letter was jointly signed by Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Deuba, UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, JASAPA Chairman Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Janamorcha Vice Chairman Durga Poudel. It has also been mentioned that if there is no consensus, friendly competition can be held within the alliance.

After the second meeting failed to reach an agreement on the issue of candidate , the meeting will reconvene tomorrow at 11:30 am.
It is said that today’s meeting was mainly focused on the distribution of seats in 6 metropolises and 11 sub-metropolises. However, after the Maoist center, the Unified Socialists and the JASAPA claimed more seats, no agreement was reached.
As the date of the local level election is approaching, a dispute has erupted at the local level over the candidature of the alliance. Top leaders from the coalition had a meeting on the issue today in Baluwatar.
