Seven communist parties to jointly surround the parliament building today

Today, seven communist parties will jointly surround the parliament building, demanding the repeal of the US aid project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Janamorcha with Netravikram Chand ‘Biplava’ led CPN, Mohan Vikram Singh led Communist Party of Nepal (Masal), Communist Party of Nepal (Revolutionary Maoist) led by Mohan Vaidya, Communist Party of Nepal led by Rishi Kattel, Scientific Socialist Communist Party of Nepal led by Ahuti and CPN-Maoist Socialists led by Karnajit Budhathoki are going to surround the federal parliament this afternoon and protest against the MCC. There is a program to gather at Maitighar Mandal at 1 pm today and hold a corner meeting in front of the parliament building with a protest rally at 2 pm.

All party meeting convened: Obstruction of Parliament and MCC to be discussed

An all-party meeting is scheduled to be convened at 4 pm on Sunday to end the ongoing impasse in the parliament and submit a decision to the MCC. All political parties in the parliament will be called for the all-party meeting.

The CPNUML has been obstructing both houses of the federal parliament, while the United States has been pressuring the parliament to pass the MCC agreement. However, the agreement has not been able to move forward as there are two divided gropus on MCC among the ruling parties

On the other hand, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the MCC will not be allowed to pass by breaking the ruling coalition. Citizens are also having number of protests on streets everyday all over the country criticizing the government on the issue of MCC.
