first day of Jayanagar-Kurtha train service

Locals are excited after the regular operation of Jayanagar-Kurtha train service.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi inaugurated the train service from New Delhi, India on Saturday.

The train, which left at 8.30 am on Sunday, reached Janakpur station at 10.15 am.

General Manager of Nepal Railway Company Niranjan Jha informed that the train from Jayanagar to Kurtha and from Kurtha to Jayanagar on the first day was full of passengers in both ordinary and AC compartment .

He said that regular trains have started running as per the schedule.

According to him, the service has been schedule twice a day . He informed that the train will leave Jayanagar at 8:30 am and 3 pm and another train will leave Kurtha at 10:30 am and 5:15 am.

Janakpur Jayanagar train starts from today: No passengers during the trial period

The train, which was brought with pomp from India will run for testing from today after being kept in Inaruwa covered with a tarp for a long time.
An empty train will be operated on the 35-kilometre railway line from Jayanagar to Kurtha from today. It is learned that 14 Indians and 60 Nepalese will be deployed from today to maintain the work. Indian technical team has also arrived in Nepal to operate the train. The train will run once a day during the trial period and will run for about a week.

Though it has been said, that the Prime Minister of Nepal and India will jointly inaugurate the railway, no date has been fixed yet.
