The main opposition CPN (UML) has decided to oppose the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice.

After the impeachment was registered, the UML convened an emergency meeting of the secretariat. A meeting of the party’s central secretariat held at the residence of party president KP Sharma Oli in Balkot decided to oppose the impeachment motion saying it was a conspiratorial move against the judiciary and democracy.

The meeting has accused the ruling coalition of bringing impeachment motion with the objective of creating controlled instability in Nepal.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said that the ruling coalition had carried out activities against the democracy and decided to oppose the impeachment and urge the people to stand against it.

Secretary General Pokharel said that the meeting of the parliamentary parties to be held today would take important decisions regarding the impeachment.
