Agreement to cooperate among 8 Madhes-centric parties

Kathmandu: An agreement has been reached on cooperation among 8 Madhes-centric parties. The meeting of Madhes-centric parties held in Singha Darabr decided to move forward by cooperating, said Janata Samajwadi Party leader Manish Suman.

According to him, a task force has also been formed with representation from 8 parties with the goal of unification. The task force includes Manish Suman, Laxman Lal Karna, Dr. Sarad Singh Yadav, Mohammad Istiyak Rai, Gangaram Chaudhary, Shivji Yadav and Braj Kishore Singh. Leader Suman said that a name is yet to be announced from Rajendra Mahato’s party.

He said that the recent political situation in the country and the agenda of the constitution amendment were discussed. He said that detailed discussions were held on the issue of agreement and cooperation to form a common view of the 8 parties on the same issue.

He said that the 8-member task force will discuss issues including creating an environment of unity, strengthening cooperation and coordination in the upcoming meeting. ‘The task force will first name itself. Then it will work on the code of conduct, drafting a document of common ideas, coordinating upcoming meetings, etc. Unity is our goal. We cannot say anything right now,’ said leader Suman.

He said that there was also discussion on the ordinance brought by the government. He said that more attention was paid to the ordinance related to land of Madhesh-centric parties. A detailed study is being done on this bill. Our statement is that the Mahendra ideology has displaced Madheshi and indigenous people from their own land,’ he said.

Eight Madhesh-centric parties in discussions to form a front

Kathmandu – As the issue of constitutional amendment is ongoing and the winter session of Parliament is about to begin on March 18, eight different Madhesh political parties are being active in forming a front to unite on the issue of constitutional amendment and are engaged in discussions.

The leaders of Ashok Rai-led JASAPA, Upendra Yadav-led JASAPA Nepal, CK Raut-led Janamat Party, Mahantha Thakur-led LOSAPA, Ranjita Shrestha-led Nagarik Unmukti, Rajendra Mahato-led Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal, Hridayash Tripathi-led Janata Pragatisheel Party and Brushesh Chandra Lal-led Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party (Tamalopa) are holding discussions.

They said that discussions are underway on how to make the presence of Madhesh parties in Parliament and how to take forward the activities of the front.
